Light and dark both hold a good and a bad — a Sunday note

A Sunday note from elementLOTUS.

When the healthiest person is called the problem

Someone shared a line with me this week: a therapist’s observation that dysfunctional families often name the healthiest person the problem — because healthy people stop participating in unhealthy rules. It is true of families, and it is just as true of governments. The reformer who will not obey an unhealthy rule is the one who gets called difficult.

“Dysfunctional families often identify the healthiest person as the problem — because healthy people stop participating in unhealthy rules.”

But here is the turn, and it matters: darkness is not the villain. Light and dark each hold a good and a bad.

  • Good dark — privacy, rest, the gestating source; the file that shields the accused until it is sourced; mercy that does not expose.
  • Bad dark — concealment; corruption hidden from the record.
  • Good light — truth; the freed public record; the plain-words explainer; dignity seen.
  • Bad light — glare as cruelty; exposure as spectacle; surveillance overreach.

That little square is the whole charter. We keep your records free (good light). We never name a soul unless it is sourced and asked as a question (light without the glare). And we hold what is not ready in the good dark until it earns the day. An instrument, not a spectacle.

Of one blood — ho‘okahi koko — dignity given, not earned. Happy Sunday.
