In plain words: Part of the govOS civic record — public information, gathered so any Maui or Hawaiian person can see it plainly.

Who Funds Our Elections
Campaign money is public record and lawful to give. This page sorts every reported contribution by the giver’s own stated industry — so you can see which sectors spend the most to shape who governs, who their biggest givers are, and which candidates they back. Real estate and development are broken out first, because that is where the housing stakes live.
Classification is a transparent keyword heuristic on self-reported employer and
occupation from the filings — a map to read the record, not a legal judgment. “Other / Unclassified”
holds blanks, “self / retired,” and givers whose reported field matched no class. The question is always
whether the votes and contracts follow the money — asked, never asserted.
Maui County — who funds our seats
The money behind the Mayor and Council seats you actually vote for — $2.5M across 3,706 gifts to tracked Maui County offices, sorted by the giver’s own industry.
